The U.S. has grown meaner and the empire it has become is in the process of fading from history. The aging process will not be pretty.

I think the same can be said for capitalism. It has outlived its usefulness and has become the source of much of the world's ills.

When the Empire dies it will begin the fast slide of capitalism into oblivion and the beginning of a new and far better world.

capitalism is not solely the united states.. the process may in your opnion not be pretty.. but from the number of sociaists goverments that we around 21 years ago we are left with 2.... the rest are the detimus of history.....

when the us loses dominaton what will happen is most certaily not determined yet... but the likely hood it will not be socialism... more likely it will be a multipolar world....

During the 20th century the United States prevented or overturned socialist movements in a great number of countries.
Had those movements been allowed to develop they would have been IMO successful in both providing democracy in both electoral and economic terms to the people of those countries.
By preventing and overturning these movements and by using brutal means such as the tortures and killings in places like Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Angola the U.S not only prevented or overturned socialist movements in those countries but put the fear of God into other countries who might have been considering a move to socialism much as the old Mafia used to create a feeling of fear in those who had friends or acquaintances kneecapped.

Although several other Western countries also participated in these wars against socialism, it was first and foremost the United States that was the main actor.

Had the U.S. NOT intervened in the many socialist movements not only would they now exist but many others would have risen once they saw what is possible under an unfettered socialist economy and a democratic electoral process.

For that reason I feel that once the hyperpower that is the U.S. fades from the scene as it will; as all empires do, the movement towards an advanced and unified socialist society planetwide will be quick in coming.

No other nation or group of nations will take up the cause of preserving capitalism.

Of course those that believe that humans are basically greedy and primitive will not see the future this way.
That view of what is to come depends on the belief that humans are basically good and will gladly follow the Golden Rule if given the chance to do so.
