Redundancy Letters Being Issued

The management of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, (JUTC), said the first phase of the staff rationalisation at the state-run bus company is going smoothly.
JUTC Vice-president of Operations Bill Allen said staff representatives had started <span style="color: #FF0000">issuing termination letters to approximately 100 employees</span>.
The posts of more than <span style="color: #FF0000">200 employees are scheduled to be made redundant </span>over the next three weeks.
A worker-delegate told the RJR News Centre that union officers are monitoring activities surrounding the lay-offs.
The workers who will be <span style="color: #FF0000">most affected are conductors, with 256 positions to be made redundant</span>.
Eighty four driver positions have been identified for redundancy.
Minister of Transport Mike Henry said the exercise should be completed by the end of the month.
The JUTC added that once its fleet of buses is increased it will re-hire workers who are interested in returning to the company.
