hopefully Ja is benefitting from a US convention tax break, if so, the larger hotel properties should be able to expand their convention/meeting room capacity </div></div> you think??? When was the last time the local private sector build anything that is not a gated community??
We are talking about jamaica here, not some theoretical place. And when the private sector don't build it, then what?
The private sector should be rebuilding the Negril beaches that their business relies on. Do you see and rebuilding going on there? </div></div>
hey doc,
who said anything about "local private sector developers and their gated communities?" - not I.
I am talking about hoteliers, ppl in the tourism business, who HAVE to be creative to stay ahead of the competition, and shifts in the business environment.
As you may know, the gay community successfully pressured Sandals to drop its male/female couples only policy. One side effect is that at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort in Nassau, now hosts many religious weekend retreats and encounters, the women share rooms. As a result they have upgraded their convention centre facilities (plus they need the centre for the many weddings and dinners etc they host.)
