Police restrict movement in crime plagued Montego Bay

Special restrictions have been imposed in volatile sections of St. James following a massive police operation Monday night into early Tuesday morning.
The restrictions apply to North Gully, Montpelier, and sections of downtown Montego Bay all areas which have experienced a recent upsurge in crime.
Commanding Officer for the St. James Police Division Superintendent Steve McGregor said no night events such as dances will be allowed in the areas which were raided.
All shops in North Gully are to close at 10 each night until further notice.
During the police raids in Montpelier, Akeem Williams, 22, was held with a point-2-2 pistol containing five live rounds.
He has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
