DAO - Data Access Objects (if I remember correctly). I'm assuming you rebooted the PC/laptop, and was still getting the error message? Sounds like a misbehaving piece of software that may be resolved by uninstalling/reinstalling MS Office.

Go to MS web site and try installing the DAO update patch.

Is there a patch? I don't know that MS still support DAO.

ETA: dahJah's link seem to include a fix for incorrect version of DAO shipped with some older versions of C++. Don't know if that will fix the problem, since said problem is recent, but no harm in trying.
