Change 115 Volt to 220/230

AC Issues again folks. And nuh worry remind me bout last year!

I'm trying to get a 14kBTU A/C but the current voltage mi ave allows 115 volts only. How easy is it to change the socket (or whatever that needs to be changed) to be able to handle 220/230 voltage?

The voltage change is the least of your problem.

The most important information you need is the Amperes of circuit breaker on the circuit you are about to install itand the amps of the A/C unit.
m since that will limit the abillity of the circuit to support the load of the aircontitioner. If the amps of the Circuit Breaker does not allow it you will need to install a double pole circuit breaker.
Then wire both contacts of the double pole CB to the black and to a new 220volt plug, properly grounded plug it in.
If it the circuit will take it, you may be able to use an adopter which includes a transformer on the plug.

Because it may require him fi run different and heavier conductors through di wall. If ah noh fi him house, dat may create som restrictions fi him, especially if him live uppa top floor an haffi get wiring dung tuh ah CB panel dat may bi inna di basement.

It does not necessarily need that. all he would need to do is to buy a drop cord that can carry the amps and go yo the breaker box in the apartment and place the breaker in the empty space then attach one end of the drop cord after removing any plug on it.
and attach the other end to a 220volt mobile box and plug in his A/C. And he should be good to go.
That would be allowed in all codes as a temporary fix. He is only going to use it for summer, than he can simply move it a nd store it.

Di drop cord ting may look kina tacky, and could bi dangerous, especially tuh smaddi whe ah novis. Dis is ofcourse assuming di box is inna him apartment?

Yuh kno, they do hav 14K BTU A/C units for 120VAC. I have purchased one before. Why do you want to use 220V?

He will also need to know the existing load in th ecircuit, so that he can calculate whether the circuit will be able to take it.

The thing is I need a 14,000 btu air conditioner - it needs 220/230 to run or else de circuit will chip out. Lemme show ya.

It no look exactly like dis but this is an example. </div></div> That plug is a 3phase 220 volt More than likely your A/C is a single phase 220. th epligs are different because the current in th ewires are different. You need to examine the UL plate for the <span style="font-size: 14pt">AMPS </span>. How many times i told you so. The circuit does not trip because of the volt. It trops because of the <span style="font-size: 14pt"> amps. you need to check that out</span>. Otherwise you are wasting your time.
On examin8ng th epage i find this <span style="font-size: 14pt"> 14,000 BTU • 220 Volt 15 Amp Dedicated Circuit (Tandem Plug) </span>• 9.0 EER • Electronic Controls • Remote Control
it means you need a circuit that only the A/C is on with a 15 amps fuse controllong it. If anythingf else is on it the breaker will constanrly trip,and the circuit will over heat.
most likely it will work on a suitably adopted 115v circuit,but you need help. Lots of help. because you doin't even know the difference between amps and volt. the wiring instructions I fave you up top will do it.
