Registry Problem

Hey Folk

Mi deh bout again. I'm checking out a relative's computer and everytime it starts up mi get that there is an issue with
c:\windows\system32\xrdxchip.dll. Any insights on how to alleviate this problem? Thanx.

Nuh worry folk - Mi a reinstall XP. Mi been having an issue where a file cannot be copied. If it happens again mi wi shout unu. Thanks

Thanks </div></div> XP will not reinstall if Some boot disks with certain onfigurationare used to start the cpmputer. One of my home computer gas that problem and u havent gor the proper Windows loader software yet to do so.

The word <span style="font-weight: bold">DLL</span> means <span style="font-weight: bold">Dynamic Link Library</span>, and it's a set of programs that an executable program can use to communicate with a specific device. It's like a function library, for the Windows Operating System, and allows a programmer to design software that can easily link with various devices through a simple declaration, and function call on the file.

If there is an error in the declaration, or call, then a <span style="font-weight: bold">General Protection Fault</span> will occur which will halt execution of the calling executable program. this usually results in either; the <span style="font-weight: bold">Blue Screen of Death</span>, or by a <span style="font-weight: bold">system error message</span>. A corrupted DLL file would disrupt the executable program as well, which is probably the situation, in your case.

Re-installing Windows is one way of dealing with the problem, and probably the most sure way. A temporary fix would be to disable the program that is using the DLL file, by removing it from the start-up sequence, of Windows. Assuming of course, that the executable file is not critical to the Operating System.

You seemed to have settled on the re-installation option, it usually is a good habit to back-up the Hard-Drive, ever so often, for situations as these.</span>

Mi just reinstalled the OS an done. Everything is working fine now. Got me a gig a memory for it too. It's a DELL Dim 2400 (for ma cousin). They had all kinda rubbish on there. Gave em Avast AntiVirus, Adaware and Spybot fi use and set dem straight.
