Importing Address Books

I am trying to import my Outlook address book into a new web-based email software.

(In part because I cannot setup via POP, my new email addresses in Outlook Express - but that is another thread)

So, the new software says that the contacts can be imported in .CSV file format. The address book in Outlook is in .PST format. Now, I have tried opening the .PST file with excel to then save it as a .CSV file extension.

However, I am getting an error msg that it cannot be done.

Any other suggestions for me to covert my .PST file to .CSV?

i dont have outlook express readily available but want to say there is an option when u have the contacts available to do a File Export where the csv format may be selected.

Export the Address Book from Outlook Express as Text: Comma Separated File (CSV)
Let us talk about why you cannot setup POP.
All you need is the Server's

POP Server
SMTP Server
Your Password.

Some Servers do not allow strange mail servers to onto their Domain so you might have a problem.
In that case, you can use Google GMail Server and set it up either as POP or IMAP.

I found the option under the File tab and converted the file to .CSV.

The issue seems to be wuth my SMTP server name. I am following, well at least I think I am following their instructions properly.

The instructions says:

SMTP Server: Your ISPs SMTP Server

Maybe I am not understanding what this means because I can send emails but cant but receive them from Outlook.

Your Mail Server should look something like this:

pop-server.maine.rr.com
smtp-server.maine.rr.com

To fill in an outlook account setup box

You need your:
<span style="font-weight: bold">Name:</span> (could be anything, outlook will get it wrong anyway and you have to fix in the end)
Then your email account: [email protected]
<span style="font-weight: bold">Then your servers:</span> pop-server.maine.rr.com
smtp-server.maine.rr.com
<span style="font-weight: bold">Then the account password</span>.... just your email address and the POP password.
You are done, after which you can fill the other boxes out.
When you are finally done you will see that outlook express got the display name section wrong and instead filled it out with your server address. This is not critical but if you send out mail as is it will have your mail server as the to line. For obvious reason you would like for the name, you choose to show up instead. All you after to do is repeat the process of setting up the email, only this time highlight the email account that you just made, choose properties and in the first box where it says name put the name you want others to see when you send them mail.

</div></div>....lord and I don't to be entrusted with it neither...why did I leave PMS on?
I am already accused of all kinds of nefarious stuff on the board so I rarely do the private stuff. We can fix it without PMS.
