what is that?

i keep getting this message "windows has detected that your virtual memory is low. while windows works to build your memory some applications requiring virtual memory may be unavailable. If you require more information click 'help'.

no.

the first time mi eva see the message was last night. i had itunes running and another window with internet.

mi juss get it and is only the internet mi have going.

Virtual Memory is hard drive memory where your computer needing more Random Access Memory (RAM) creates a space on your Hard Drive, which it reserves as RAM.

It is always better to increase physical RAM rather than use Virtual RAM. Of course Windows is designed to use Virtual RAM so you will, no matter how great a size your physical RAM is need to have some Virtual Memory.

To solve your problem:

Click on Start
Right Click on My Computer
Properties
Advanced
Performance Settings
Advanced
Virtual Memory Settings
Change

From there you can set a system-managed size, a custom size or no paging.

You can also press F1 when you are at the Desktop and type virtual memory to get an overview/guide as to the recommended size of the Paging File/Virtual Memory.

You must fix your problem however and one of the problems is keeping too many:
broken files, temp files in recycle bin and of course processes going.
So do a disk clean up and a de-fragmentation along with increasing virtual memory or physical memory.

tuff gong, mi look fi wah you tell me, but after the "click on Start" and "My Computer", mi nuh see none of wah you tell me as options for increasing the RAM.

I even did the F1 thing and typed in Paging File/Virtual Memory (together and then seperately) and I get: "No topic found"



What am i doing wrong

1) Right Click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced.

2) Performance Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory Settings.

I recommend you chooe to: "Let the system-managed size".

Make sure to click the CHANGE button.

Close the open window, and Reboot the computer.

LOL yes you have to reboot.

In the old days the thinking was you would set a page file 2.5 times system ram and make the upper and lower limit the same so it does not get fragmented.

Nowadays this does not hold true with Modern Drive, lots of Ram and the way Windows operate, but I still follow the old way. You don't have you could just set one size about 1 1/2 your physical RAM and set the upper size something bigger say 2.5 x System Ram or you can just as JKid say let Windows set it automatically.
