Settin up a nex laptop

Mi a set up dis lap top pan mi router BUT:

In conection all I have is 1 dial up connection

How do i get the other ones?
Broadband
Local Access Network and Highspeed

I've tried everyting but mi cyaan get de icon fe cum een deh.
Mi try fe set up a small office network
but no icon

a wah mi a duh?
a wah mi fe duh?

what is ur OS?
what is the type of connection you want to set up? wireline via cat5 cable or wireless?

With Win-XP you don't need the dial-up function, if you are plugging into the router, ONLY if you were going directly to your Cable/DSL modem. Your system should detect the internet network automatically, as long as, you have an ethernet card enabled in your laptop. You may have to release the IP address and then re-new it.

The lap top i'm on now has

wireless network connection
local area connection
1394 connection

all those are icons inside the LAN or High-Speed Internet

so your saying I don't need them?

I enable them when I come on the net.

to release the ip address

go to the command prompt
at the C prompt type

ipconfig /release
<wait for the connections to be released>

type ipconfig /renew

the connections should renew itself

btw are u connecting this laptop via the router and have u enabled your router for > 1 port?

oh sarry boss mi nuh want it fe wireless.
Jus dis one a guh be de wirless.

But it is not recognizing the router at all.
I'm now looking fe drivers for it and pan Panasonics own site it nuh ha none.
A how mi a guh fine ee now???

I would have thought that in the above scanario you would need

1. Wireless ADSL Modem/Router - (plugged into the phone wall socket) or

2. A wireless modem card for your laptop or the built in 802.1/1 WLAN modem that comes with some laptops

3. If you desire to connect your PC to the wireless router network then you have to get wireless modem card for your PC

Of ourse you have to setup the necessary configurations via control panel -> network connections after installing the CD software that comes with your wireless network/router kit - (all cables etc. are supplied).

Morpheous, from what I remember, Dahjah already has a wireless router. Mi sure, him wi correct mi if I mi wrong. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]


Anyway he needs to make sure windows XP is correctly configured to receive wireless signal, if he already has a wireless ethernet card installed in his laptop.

Install the Wireless PCI card and antenna into the second desktop - With the PC shut down remove the cover and locate an available PCI slot. Remove the corresponding slot plate from the back of the PC and carefully slid the card through the open slot. Insert the card into the open PCI slot and secure it into place. Replace the cover and power up the PC. It should recognize and enable the new hardware. If necessary run the setup utility that's on the CD included with the network card.

Once the card has been enabled go to the Control Panel, select Network, select Wireless Networking connection. Click on Properties. Click on the Wireless Networking tab. Select the wireless network name we just setup. Click on Configure and adjust your security setting to match those on your wireless router.

Install the Wireless PC card into the laptop - Many laptops now come with built-in wireless cards however if yours does not follow these simple instructions.

Turn off your laptop and plug your wireless PC Card into an available PCMCIA slot on the side of the laptop. Turn the laptop back on and it should now recognize and enable the new hardware. Refer to the card manufacturer's quick start guide and if necessary run the setup utility that's on the cards Installation CD.

Once the card has been enabled go to the Control Panel, select Network, select Wireless Networking connection. Click on Properties. Click on the Wireless Networking tab. Select the wireless network name we setup previously. Click on Configure and adjust your security setting to match those on your wireless router.

I DO but dis laptop as mi tink mi did seh b4 won't be wireless.
It will be hooked tuh router chroo ethernet.
Mi only need one wireless an mi deh pan ee now.
But mi cyaan get de ting fe load or find the router.

in connections there is no

LAN or High Speed Internet, as there is in the one i'm using now.
OR even a bridged connection.

did u check the drivers for the ethernet card?


did u buy the laptop new or reconditioned..
