DSL in Jamaica mad expensive

I was just on the Cable and Wireless Jamaica website checking out their DSL prices in Jamaica(nutten better to do)

US$750 a month(that's right) for their 1.5 mbps service. Wow. That's massively expensive.

Actually, that service is geared for business customers. The highest speed for residential customers is 768kpbs for still a whopping US $129 a month.

I think CW Jamaica needs a little competition.

DSL 768kbps in Poland costs 40$ USD for a month if you subscribe contract for one year, other way you must pay 60$ USD / month but you are not bount up contract with TP.SA in our country noted as telecomunism..he he he.."Telekomunikacja Polska S.A" rulez. But not for long cause since when we joined to UE, we have hope that come in to view competition who will have better offer...Best regards OwcA!

I think you can get DSL by satellite for slightly cheaper in JA.

Mi hear sey cable and wireless have three speeds...the cheapest and slowest of which is about $50 US.

there are a few small competitors..but their prices seem in that range also.

In Michigan, USA, I am paying $26.95/month for 769Kbps speed.

I pay US$60 a month for Comcast cable internet service. 3 megabit service.Comcast charges a premium if you don't subscribe to their TV service.

Verizon DSL is also available to me for $40 a month but its only 1.5 megabits.

Those are my only choices other than satellite internet service which is more expensive.

US$750 = £468.75 (@ 1.6 to 1)
US$129 = £80.63 (@ 1.6 to 1)

So dat mean:

JA$45,937.50 (@ 98 to 1)
JA$12,642.00 (@ 98 to 1)

Bwyoy dat is a big rip-off since I pay £40 roughly a month for my broadband at the high end range of 1mb (residential)

£40 = JA$3,920.00 = US$64.00

Of course exchange rates fluctautes but I am using the average exchange rate...

call them & ask if they have any promos.. I had them come out & do some work on the quality of the service (water was getting into the head end causing poor signal) and for some reason I am on a special of $19.99 for 6 months.. and like u I was paying $44.95 (I kept the basic cable so the total cost for cable + high speed service would be $54 ).

In reality I now pay $34 a month ($19modem svc +15cable) for 6 months
and then go back to $55 ($40modem svc +15cable).
It is a $5 a month savings or $60 a year to keep a basic cable svc that is not used.

They don't allow cable on my apartment building, the land law say di wirer dem no look on di side of di building.

So mi of to use Bell South DSL service for now. run me over $50.00 Month.

High speed internet connection is $45CDN + tax = approx. $50CDN or $40USD a month.

Yes in florida i used to pay $45 a month for dsl from bellsouth
