And ball park - how much would the montly bill be?

Question: Out where we are, when a house has a large dish, and its up for sale, the dish is almost always included.

Would the new homeowner need to putup any additional money, or would the service just be transefered to whomever now owns the dish?

Always wondered about that...

OK..so the little dish is sitting atop my front porch and I am quite pleased so far. I pay just about the same as I did for cable, but with more programming options. So far, so good

That is absolutely NOT a correct statement. You can have as many outputs as you want, with each person watching different programs, in diferent rooms as you like.

but then you get into having to buy a reciever for each room...usually each dish can only be connected to two recievrs so you get into multiple dishes ....big outlay up front

RichD, with the use of a multi-switch you can connect many receivers to a single dish.

You are correct about the additional receivers cost. However, don't you have to pay for extra cable receivers if your TV is not capable of receiving all the cable channels that you get?

Besides, it only cost $4.99 for each extra satellite receiver that you add (mirror). Also, don't forget that the satellite receivers has a lot more functionality, and an all digital, sharper picture than a cable receiver.

The cable boxes usually don't have (multiple) audio or video RCA outputs or a PC tap.

Satalite is better than cable.

#1 you own the box and you don't of to worry about dirctv coming to tek away the box if you owe the some money.

Mek you every late once fi pay your cable bill.
They will take back the box and some time them take down all the wirer too.

Send excess amount of threat about how they going send your name to credit agency.

Satalite 100% better, more channel for less money.

We're planning to switch because I want TiVo and Directv offers it but our cable company doesn't. I don't watch that much TV so when I do, I'd like to watch what I LIKE and what i like is not always on at the time i can watch tv.

I like hte idea of skipping commercials too [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

...I do have some concerns about weather outages. We have digital cable and frankly I can't remember it going out but one time (for a few hours) in 7-8 years.
