Okay Tech Guru's ....(Missing Win_XP password)

if you can help me with this one you are really good.

Everytime I log on to my computer it asks for a password...no password was ever created. So, I am unable to get on to my desktop...please help!!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

did u ever try clicking on cancel sometimes doing tat will take you straight to your desktop

I tried that...doesn't work...it won't even give me access as administrator.

Someone--another person--must have created a password....

Try this....
boot to the window where Windows asks for a password. Then press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice.

That will open the original Administrator account. If there is no password required on that, you can boot into your system. Then go into User Accounts and reset the password on your own administrator account.

You access User Accounts by clicking Start>>Control Panel. Double-click User Accounts. Click Change an account. Click your personal account. Click Remove the password.

You can also boot into safe mode to access the owner's account. When you install Windows XP, you are asked to provide two passwords. The first is the PC owner password, and the second is an administration password. It does that for your protection and situation like this. The admin. password is the one you are missing. I hope you know what password was given for the owner's?

I will try everything you guys suggest and get back to you. But when Windows XP was installed no password was set-up.

when you get into windows, change the way your logon works in the control panel.

I know you can specify somewhere if the users have to use passwords or not.
