Jamaica landline phone calls being billed at [B] CELL PHONE RATES[/B]!!![

I bought a Noblecom One Second Jamaica phone card at a 13 cents a minute rate for landline calls. I called someone in Pembroke for 41 minutes and was charged $13.53!!!, 33 cents a minute!. I called Noblecom to complain and they told me it's not their fault. Jamaica Cable and Wireless has screwed up their area codes and now all Jamaican phone #'s in certain area codes are ALL listed as cell phones!, and even though I was calling a landline I had to be billed at cell phone rates! These are the Jamaican area codes affected according to Noblecom...210-219; 300-499; 700-999.
Is that right? Anyone else have this problem?

If anyone else is making a phone card call to any of these Jamaican area codes could you log your minutes and let us know if what you thought you were paying per minute is what you actually paid?
I am going to Jamaica Cable and Wireless web site right now to see if I can find out more on this.

Bad luck...If the company are aware of the fault that happened through their card ( even though they say it was not directly down to them ) , they should give you some form of compensation maybe in terms of extra credit on your calling card.

But this problem should happen to ANYBODY who calls those Jamaican area codes using a phone card, regardless whose card they bought. Noblecom says it's Ja Cable and Wireless fault!

the company should give u some compensation because I am sure they will be going back to c&w for credit for the access charges billed at the cellular call rate.

btw that is a wide range of tel exchanges affected.. any idea when C&W will be updating their tables to reflect the exchanges as land line vs wireless.

I use Nobel...the enjoyprepaid, basically because they have the best rounding but somewhat shoddy service...

anyway, have not noticed any billing change.

The same thing happend to me. I enjoyed months of really good rates with my sprint card then all of a sudden the rates went WAY UP. When I called to complain they said the number I usually call was registering as a landline in the past now it's registering as a cellphone and the rates are more expensive. I couldn't understand how they could just change like that. Go figure, now I'm shopping around for a new card.

They DON"T! The card I bought is a 13cent a minute card when you are calling a landline. But Ja cable and Wireless has changed hundreds of landline telephone #'s to cell phone exchanges,even if the phone you are calling is a landline!!! And cell phone rates for all phone cards are much higher, ergo the 33cents a minute rate.
