Help!
I have a problem at work. My boss wants me to back up all our old data to clear some space off the server. This data will still need to be accessed every now and again to pull up clients files etc... .
It is over a terabyte of data and the obvious choice of backing it up would be to catalog and burn it all onto DVDs which everyone in our department can access as all the computers are DVD compatible. However, burning over a terabyte of info onto DVDs that only hold 4GB each is going to take me the better part of a month or two and I just don't have that kind of time to spend on this chore. I thought of putting in a requisition for a single Blu-ray DVD writer in order to burn it onto Blu-ray DVDs but then it would not be accessible to anyone except from that one computer, which is a less than ideal solution when the whole idea is to keep this data available to as many people as possible. Finally, I have considered requesting a 1.5 TB external and just dumping all the data on there but I am afraid that if the external ever fails all will be lost.
What to do!!!
