mi can't stand fi see people pan dem cell phone when dem go out guh eat...movie theatre...train..bus....anyweh dem deh....dem deh pan the phone 24-7.....and talking loud enuff for the whole world to hear....I don't need to hear your conversation

not to mention the one dem whe talk and drive...

mine is off ALL day...I can hear it vibrate...and if it is important I will return the call...otherwise...I don't call back... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I was doing some contract workk for a well known company and everyone in that department had the cell phones on...with the music as a ringer... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] I thought I was going to lose my mind....how unprofessional...mi a think bout sending the VP a letter fi mek him know how mi feel...

so basically mine is for emergency purposes .... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] I didn't talk much on the phone before and I still don't...

yes it has changed things a lot for me. Because of their portability, it allows people to call you from practically ANYwhere, which for me means that a lot of times I'm working even though I'm not at work (people who are at work calling to ask questions).

I do socialize less with my friends (especially those who live on other side of town) because we talk and email so much. It feels as if we are in touch although we don't see each other that much. The same goes for some of my out of town friends. I have a long distance service that provides unlimited calls for $15.95/month. Since I talk to my out of town buddies so much, I make less of an effort to get up to say Dallas or over to Austin to actually see them. Only if someone's sick or there's a special event going on. The unlimited nights and weekends on my cell started this trend.

I held out for a long time before I'd get a cellular. I thought of it as an extravagance (I'm so cheap) and swore I didn't need one. I finally bought one so that I could be contacted in the event of an emergency involving my son at school, on days that my job took me outside the city. Seven years later I'm so ate up with cell phone technology that when I leave my phone at home on the charger, I feel almost as if I've left the house without any clothes on.

Ooooh geneva you and I have the same cell phone PET PEEVES!!! I bought a phone that has the walkie-talkie feature because it's a tough phone and I got sick of breaking (and losing) the smaller ones. I won't even subscribe to that service because I think people are so obnoxious with it and I don't want anybody calling me on it (plus I'm too cheap to pay for it).

Our work phones used to have that option and when everybody was in the office, all shouting into their phones at the same time it was MADNESS!!!

Another thing that I HOPE doesn't happen. The FAA is looking into lifting the restriction on inflight cell phone usage on airplanes. Can you IMAGINE??? The seats are already so close together that it makes people feel like steerage. Now you won't even be able to sleep through the torture for all the people yakking on cell phone!

It hasn't changed my life... I only turn on my cellphone for an emergency situation...bruk dung car... not to la-ba-la-ba .

Mi not a phone person... I'm here at home and my phone is ringing and I make no move to answer... I spend most of my hours at work on conference calls... mi nuh want no phones of any kind to disturb my quiet time at home.

My husband knows how I am with him and his cellphone... my husband is a LOUD talker. You stay a mile off and hear his voice booming... He likes to take his cellphone to make business calls while we're walking the dog... mi cannot stand it. He's in the house on his cellphone... voice LOUD and BOOMing in my ears... get off the blasted phone man! Cho! Dat man could live widdout light, water but cannot live widdout a phone.

Cellphone... any type of phone... mi unplug, turnoff... lockdung... shutoff... it's an annoyance.

There was one time I wish I had a cellphone though... happened when I took a chance and drove into knee deep water... my car shut-off... after 9pm... 20 miles from home... no cellphone to call for assistance. After that episode, I broke down and got a cellphone.

Just having it on the road is great! I'm not talking about yakkin while I'm driving.
Last year I helped JD move to Florida. I drove the truck, she drove her car. It was great having the phones to coordinate stops, find hotel rooms, etc.

When I drove to Canada alone, it gave me a feeling of security, knowing that if the car happened to break down I wan't stuck relying on a stranger or waiting for the police to happen by.

Plus, I never miss a call I'm waiting for. I can go about my business and still be reached.

Also it's made a world of difference when I try to reach friends in Jamaica.
I don't know too many people who sit at home back a yaad, so if I call I reach someone.

I have my pet peeves about their use in public places, while driving etc. But for the most part, I'm happy to have it.

it was after a bruk dung long ago in atlanta dat mek mi change mi mind bout cell fone.
Dat day in de area mi di deh not even de cb could reach a smaddy. it was one a de wussest days a mi life. soon aftah mi reach back home mi buy cellulah.

Cellular is the worse invention man every mek. It cause people fi hunt mi dung like mi owe dem some thing.

Den the people dem call full up mi answering service with nothing but foolishness.

So now mi of fi use two cellular phone, one fi business and di odda one fi di waste time people dem.

Some time I even change mi number and by the end of the next 24 hours pass by dem start hunt mi agein pon mi new number.

Di ting is dat mi madda a christian and she cyaa tell lie, so if dem call har and ask har fi mi number she a go give it to dem.

hardly miss a call..

calls to de house get forwarded to de cell phone so mi noh really miss any calls.. nor haffi stay put a wait pon people call.

very handy when traveling in separate cars as QK mentioned
