HTML Help Please

[Tropicana]

I have been trouble shooting a document for hours. For some reason, part of the page is showing up blank....it's one of the tables and I just can't get it to appear. I have checked all the TD tags and quotes appear to be there (open and closing) same with the TR tags. Also all " " are complete. What else should I be checking for. This one has me stumped and frustrated.

You might have to post it.... it could be that part of document has been inadvertently commented out or the font in a section of it is the same colour as the page.

Probley you might accidentally leave open tag or delete it by mistake. If probley happen when make recent change. Delete the html script that you last enter and see if that solve the problem.

Thank you, I will double check that I have closed all tags and that I don't have a Font tag in that section. Any other possibilities. If I post the code for the section that is not showing up will it help?

I am frustrated with it. I worked on it for hours yesterday and stayed up late last night and couldn't fix it. I have stripped out the content. Here is the code.

I don't see anything wrong must be some other global command that is causing the problem.

Try to take out the cell padding for a moment or change them to say 2% rather than a fix figure.

With the <colspan> tag make sure you have 3 columns to span.

Well interesting. NOthing I did got the section to show up until I posted this code eaxactly AS IS in the section just before the part that wouldn't show up before:


Interestingly enough. THIS doesn't show up but the rest of the document does....this is SO bizarre:

Try enveloping each section in <div></div> tags.
It is quite apparent that the problem is in some global command that precedes the section that will show up.

I could look at it but I'd need the full html page to see what the deal is. I pasted that code into DreamWeaver 4 and the part that you say doesnt show up is there, its just way off to the right off the page margin. If ya want to send me the full page just mail it off to [email protected] and I'll take a look at it. It may take me a day or so to get to it, I'm in the final build stage of a new site I'm working on...but I'll get to it.

I fixed it for Tropicana last night. Hehe, great distractions to get me off my current project. Too tired to do heavy coding and too busy dreaming of Jamaica to get much done...lol Maybe this weekend I'll feel like working on my own pages.

Yes, the colspan=3 is a column because it can only be used in a column tag <td>.

It really doesn't matter if there were 10 columns and you span only 3. Colspan is just a way of merging/spanning content over more than one column. I just mentioned it in case you intended to span all the columns in the table.

The reason why you couldn't see the second table was because you must also have a global table. One that encapsulate the entire web page between the body tags.

If you look at your old HTML you will find that if you scrolled to the right you would have seen the second table. This bottom scrollbar appears when the webpage is too large to fit into the standard display size on the screen. Even with all the align=left or even <div align=left> would not have solved this problem.

By creating a new overal table and placing the first table within the first row of the glabal table and placing the second table within the second row of the global table you will ensure that the web page displays how you intended it to.

i.e.

Colpsan and Rowspan
