HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying to hook up a scanner to my computer
I dont have the original software that came with it but someone wnet to the HP site and downloaded the software to a disc for me
Yesterday I started to hook it up and had to stop today I am trying to do it all over again and I keep getting this message
"Cant create output file:c/sj655/hpupdate.exe"
what am i doing wrong
can someone please guide me into doing the right thing

go to the website and see if you can download the software yourself. Maybe de one dem gi yuh, supm wrong widee.

What is the name of the scanner?
The file might be corrupted.

Are you signed on as an administrator or just a user?

Make sure the driver dem gi yuh the correct one for yuh scanner model number.

Make sure the scanner is tightly hooked up to the PC, and also plugged into the wall A/C and turned on. If it is a USB scanner, make sure it is plugged into the USB port. The PC should detect the scanner automatically and install the drivers. if it don't have the driver, it will ask you for the driver disk and the directory location. If not re-boot the PC with the scanner still turned on and try again.

MOST OF ALL "MAKE SURE" THAT THE DRIVER YOU ARE USING SAYS "WINDOWS-XP", AND NO OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM. That of course is assuming your OS is Win-XP?

If none of the above happens, do the following:
control panel > performance and maintenance > system > hardware > Add Hardware Wizard > it will walk you through the required steps.

You should have tell us what version of window you running.

If you running window xp and its HP scanner
window should able to detect the hardware and provide a compantible drive for it.

Most of the newer HP scanner, printer window xp already have a drive for them.

I have windows xp
yes it is a HP scanner
I will try to set up agin tonight when I get home
