I am upgrading my computer (9 yeaar old desktop to brand new laptop). The problem is that I hate to let go my old desktop. It runs on Windows ME and only has 128 mb of ram but it has served me well over the last decade. There is really nothing wrong with it. It still works fine for surfing simple sites and checking email etc... . The issue is that I was using AGV Free Version as my anti virus software and they have just posted a message saying that they are no longer supporting Windows ME. And I have not found another free (not willing to spend money to protect this machine) anti virus program that will support such an old computer. I even thought of switching to Ubuntu but even that OS requires 256 mb of ram.
Like I said I don't want to spend any money on this old clunker but I hate to throw it out. Perhaps I will just use it to surf and check email solely on my new laptop. If it gets a virus or two or a hundred, who cares, it is at the end of its life anyway, or is there a quick and easy solution you folks now about. I already have a boat anchor and don't need another one.
