Travelling light

I am a road warrior spending about 3-4 days each month travelling across the US to make presentations. My company gives me an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad which is slim enough, but too heavy. I want something that is no more than 3 pounds.

Only need Internet connection, IE, PowerPoint, Word, and that's it. Don't need no CD-DVD drive. Will use flash drive as needed.

My budget is about $500. Acer or Toshiba?

I like Toshiba, but you can't ignore the prices of the recent Acers. Something to consider is the versions of the software you're using, then check if the laptops in the budget match. I'll offer that laptops for $500 are noticeably slower than laptops for $1000 with better processors and more memory. The biggest enhancement you can do for your pc is memory. Get as much as you can. 4gb is probably better for Vista than 2gb. If the laptop has a 1.6ghz cpu, it will work, better to get a faster one if you can. You'll thank me when the PP graphics take a bit to render when you're standing in front of people.

Stay clear of Vista. Get XP pan ie instead.

I've come to an agreement with Vista. Turn off the stupid account security and much of my aggravation is solved.
