Help re: Monitor

I'm getting a monitor however I was told that the picture is sometimes dark. Is this something that can be fixed? I would prefer not to waste my time and pick it up if it can't be fixed.

Hi compry.

It's hard to tell without seeing it if it is defective or just needs adjusting. My monitor can be adjusted for brightness by pressing the little sun icon thingy on the the outside so you could try that and see if it helps.

Does the person who is giving you this monitor know about this kind of stuff? Would they have already tried adjusting it?

You can also adjust the gamma from within Windows so if the person using this monitor had adgusted their gamma levels a little "off" it could make the images on the monitor seem too dark even though it may appear OK when hooked up to another computer.

It's hard to say without seeing it first hand.

Are you getting this monitor from a novice or an expert? Is it one of the fancy electronic ones with all the little push buttons or is it a plane Jane analog type?

The electronic ones can be tricky for a lot of people to adjust correctly, and they assume it is the poor defenseless monitor and not them. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Worst case scenario is, if you get it and it is bad you just donate it for tax write-off (someone will buy it for repair) or put it out by the street curb.

I don't think the person is an expert based on the answer I received when I asked about the problem. I'll pick up it up later and look at it myself. If I can't figure it out maybe one of you kind gentleman will come over and look at it. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Just joking.

When yuh get it, tek a digital photo of it, with the control panel with the buttons open, and post it so that we can see.

Milo/J kid, the buttons are located at the front of the monitor..no panel. I've adjusted it to the max and it's still fairly dark.

Now I'm wondering if I can play around in the control panel and adjust it further? Going to find out now.
