On this particular page, I have a photo gallery.

The initial pics are all black and white. On mouseover, the pic switches to the colored version of that particular pic.

The layout is in the form of the number 0. so pics are all around the border and the middle is an empty space. (it's done in tables)

I want to have the colored pic go to the empty space of the table on mouse over. (These pics are also thumbnails) On click, I want the actual pic to come up on something like a pop up window...(or sinting like dat [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] )

Dat mek sense? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

From the sounds of it you are using some kind of scripting for the photo gallery and want to mod it? You would need to include more details like what language (asp, php etc) and probably a link so we can see what you are talking about.

If you are using some free photo gallery from the net you should make sure you have permission to mod it. You also might want to start with the script/photo gallery website for details on changing layouts and what not, they know their code and can better answer questions on changing the structure and layout of their scripts.

Now, what I've done is created something similar (without the curved edges) but in the form of pictures (using a table)

I want the mouseover to project the selected pic to the middle of the number 0.

I think you need to make sure your table has only one cell in the middle where the image(s) will go.

You want a javascript that will change the middle image when you mouseover one of the edge images.

You'd start off with some kind of blank image in the middle, name it and have it swap when one of the other images is moused over.

This is essentially the same as a regular image mouseover, but when the user mouses over image 1, image 2 changes, image 1 stays the same.

You can modify one of the free ones to do this, or you may be able to find a free script that already does this on the various free javascript sites.

Zakly! I already have the script etc...I guess I will go a hunting for that blank image I saw yesterday and use that.

can you do a colspan AND a rowspan at the same time? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

the table has 4 columns & 4 rows - or something like that...

so how do i merge the 4 inside cells into one?

colspan = 2, rowspan=2? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Update:

I couldn't figure out how to play wid di blank image thingy to make it work [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

So I just opted for frames.

The thumbnails are in one frame (black and white that change to color on mouse over and back to black and white on mouse out) and the other frame is blank.

On image click, the original pic is displayed in the blank frame.

Dat mek sense?

So far it seems to work fine.
