Why is ABC-TV starting all their programs late?

For the last two weeks or so ABC have been starting and stopping all their prime time programe, two and three minutes after the hour and half-hour.

What the heck are they trying to do, tick-off viewers?

I personally don't appreciate changing channel and find I have already missed 2 of the other program on the other chn, or having to leave ABC early and missing the remainder of what I am watching. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

well it was only a matter of time...they started doing it at 11.00pm for the past couple years...and I guess they decided to move it up...

They can do whatever they want with their station, but what is the rational? All this can serve to do is create disgruntled viewership, and cost them viewership and advertisement.

I know a lot of Tivo guys are really irked about this. I am not sure why they switched but I think it was to cause less channel surfing and make they viewers have to watch the ads to catch the start of the show. I noticed years ago that all the major stations all take their commercial breaks about the same time so you cant flip over until the ads are done anymore (at least where I live).

TV is fast approching a thing of the past. In the next few years average users will be able to download their shows and watch them on the TV in either a streaming format or some compressed file. For those that know what they are doing this can already be achieved but I'm not going to go into that here.

At least computers will give kids a chance to learn a bit instead of the old 'boob tube babysitter. Computers are fast approching the mainstream entertainment device with so much more to offer than the TV's we grew up with. Its a good thing!

As soon as Tivo-To-GO lower dem monthly subscription price, look out here I come. Mi tink mi ah goh get a cheap laptop just fi watch DVD's wen mi travel. Why waste money on a portable DVD unit, that can ONLY play DVD? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
