I've been trying to set up a personal web site, but haven't had any luck at all. I've tried Comcast and Bravenet. I want something free and easy for me to use (cuz I noh nuthing about this stuff!) and keep updated.
Any suggestions?
patty, i have verizon dsl and once logged in there's a link i follow to build my own site. so far this is what i've come up with and the only thing i've had to do is provide the content:
it's not the fanciest site, and i haven't updated it in a while - but it serves its purpose with little effort on my part. there must be something similarly easy with your isp.
if not, then you can always buy the software, create it on your pc and then publish it to the web. lots of software available that essentially allow you to create a "what you see is what you get" website. that is, you don't need to know html code to create the final product. pretty sure frontpage allows you to do this - and i'm almost certain microsoft word has a similar option. from there you would just need to pay for the space to host the site...
I might be able to help ya out depending on what ya need hosting wise. I'd do it free if you don't suck up a lot of system resources like file downloads or large image galleries. It would be a nested site like your verizon one but that's not a big deal (and you don't have to pay for the domain name and dns setup).
For those that want to learn website building get a good WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor. You can try Dreamweaver from Macromedia for 30 days (or find a starving college student and get an educational version). The best way to learn something is to sit down and do it.
Other option is geocities.com and their free sites, which even has a built in WYSIWYG editor.
Thanks SO much for your kind offer, Rebycman!
Although, my husband told me he might have something for me to use. See, we're going to "share" a web site. We just started a business together and we each have our own "division". So, my page has to be attached to his. I don't know how all this works, but hopefully I'll learn quickly, and get good at keepong it all up to date.
CEW - thanks! Thought you were crazy (kidding)
