DVD tapes

Someone did some DVD tapes for me and now when I go to watch them my DVD is saying the discs canot be played.

I told the person who did it and they said yak yak- something about they burn them on computer. What do I need to make them work- thanks

I have a problem sometimes with my "good" dvd player, if I try to play them on my computer or on our "cheaper" dvd player they play fine [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] sounds like we have the same problems. can't wait to hear what the techs have to say

Reggae my nephew tried them on the computer and it works- but I intend giving them as a gift and so I cant ask the person if they play DVD's on their computer or DVD.

They charged me $10 each for making them

I have no idea [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] sorry I am not more help. I wondered if it had to do with how the disc was written but I don't know. Some work and some don't for me??? weird

Not all DVD players will play computer generated discs, especially the older ones.

You might need to get a more modern DVD player. Try getting one that plays DVD ROM, DVD RAM, MP3, CR-R, CD-RW etc,.

Not all DVD players are equal. Some play all formats DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, etc. Some will play one of the formats better than the other, or not be compatible at all with the other formats. Also you have some players that claim to play all formats, but are finiky about the quality of media it accepts (will only play certain brands of media). To be truthfull, some of the media manufacturers make lousy quality disks.

Usually most computer will play all the formats, but some the stand-alone units will not. Also, studios have different protecion schemes encoded on the disk, and sometimes the protection will be different from studio to studio. For example, I-Robot is a tough one to crack for most people. Studios usually release their movies on DVD-r disks.

Not everybody who claims to know how to rip a DVD can do it successfully all the time.

The low cost brands sold at wal-Mart and Radio Shack usualy do a good job of accepting various media types.
