Tell mi sitt'n ... dem inna issues wid Firefox? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Firefox was restricting me cause I needed Plug-ins. I donwloaded this Java thing and now this thing hangs up or goes frozen for eons! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

Not to mention how s-l-o-s the machine has become. I sometimes have to use the old Mozilla and Firefox at the same time cause some sites I can access on one but not the other.

I need major help. S'l vous plait.

My first impulse is to push di sinting troo di windah but dat won't solve a ting. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

have you tried to uninstall the JAVA that you downloaded?

What you should also do is go to previous restore point and restore your PC to a previous configuration that is known to be good.

You should try to find out if the Java plugin is compatible with your version of Firefox. Or reinstall it.
Best thing to do is install Netscape. It has all the plugins you need and you won't have any problems with it.

Got some thinking to do.

I was afraid to uninstall cause I figure I might lose functionality in other programs. Not sure what I changed whn I did the installation [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

Next thing, in terms of security, which weighs in better, Netscape of Firefox?

Been thru the whole song and dance routine with IE and got my fair share of bugs,viruses, spyware, trojanhorses, the works (For that I still owe J-Kid a car [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] )

Trying to be safe and practical at the same time. Whither goest I.

Firefox works pretty well. I haven't tried the new version of Netscape, so cannot venture any opinion. hope things work out for you. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

Make sure you did not download the wrong version by accident and it is indeed the windows version.

I use regular Mozilla browser not Firefox, but You have to enable JAVA under: File > Preference > Advanced. Look to see if a check mark is in the box.

Enabled...

When I use the regular Mozilla I can't access my Lotus notes from home. I can see the naked messages but the address book, reply, compose etc features are not displayed.

How long have you been using it?

The online installer does not function just right.

Download Java version 5.0, (make sure you know where you saved it). Close all instances of Firefox.

Go to: Control Panel, Add or Remove programs, remove Old java, Restart your PC
Run the Installer for 5.0 -> Restart your PC
Now open Firefox.

I've been using Netscape 7.2 for quite a while now (after I've had several problems with IE) and I'm very pleased with how it works. It's definitely safer than IE (much fewer spyware/adware get into your computer) and I haven't experienced any problems with it. In case you go to a site which requires a certain plugin it tells you this and automatically installs the needed plugin and after this you'll be able to surf the internet without any problems.
