Scratchy Sound when playing any music media

I have problem when play any music media program on my computer except the dvd player and my tv tuner card.

I trying to figure out for weeks know what causing this scratchy sound.

I have voice clock when every it trying to say
the time it make scratch sound as well.

Do any one now what causing this scratchy sound?

Well from the sounds of it anytime you play music/media on your PC speakers you get feedback of some kind. You are using your dvd player to play movies on your TV and not on your PC, right?

I can think of a few things if this is the case.

1) Do you have headphones plugged in? Often people forget about the headset/mic and get feedback from it.

2) Possible loose connection on a speaker plugin or extension cable.

3) You windows default volume is set to max and you are using an application sound bar to adjust volume. Try backing down the max volume a to 2/3'rds instead of max.

4) Speakers on PC are fried. Are these old speakers? What kind of speakers are you using? Surround sound setup or just 2 desktop speakers?

I play dvd some time watch television program on my pc because of picture quality is always good.

I don't get any scratchy sound for non of the above players.

Hear it when ever i use window media, real player, itune and my voice clock.

If I playing music directly from a cd it doesn't make that scratchy noise.

Ah ok, from the way you first described it I wasnt sure if you were playing dvd's on your PC monitor.

Sounds like a hardware driver issue or updates are needed to programs. Have you checked windows update lately? If it plays some types of media without defects but others with defects it would lead me to think you need newer drivers, or updates to programs like windows media & real player.

If you cant find newer drivers for your sound card you may consider going into the device manager and ensure you dont have any conflicts with hardware devices. If you don't have any conflicts you could try removing the sound card, rebooting and then have windows re-install the drivers for your sound.

Many times, I find that item # 3) above wil fix the problem.
