hotmail age verification/sign-in problem

Has onyone had this problem signing in to hotmail recently?

When you try to sign-in, you're presented with a window asking you to verify your age, by entering your credit card info.

Don't enter your info. From the internet explorer tool bar, hit tools, then internet options, then delete all cookies and files, as well as offline content. Then restart your computer. Type in the hotmail web addres and you should sign-in successfully.

That's strange... But thanks for letting me know BIGRED. I do have a hotmail email address, so it's good I found out before it happened to me [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I've never had hotmail ask for a credit card number. It sounds like you either had your browser hijacked or you clicked on a spoofed link.

Maybe I am paranoid but anytime I get a unexpected popup asking for a credit card number I'd do a netstat and then unplug the ethernet cable on that box and run full scans for adware, spyware, malware, key loggers, r00t kits, virus, trojans and the like.

Browser Hijack is when another program alters your computer software. So for example, if you type in yahoo.com into the address bar your browser loads google.com instead.

Spoofed Links are hyperlinks that look legit but don't take you where you think they do. Often these links lead to fake sites designed to look like the original (or real) website. Favored by email scammers sending emails as if they were your bank asking you to update your information.
