dont know for sure, but I do know that I have a couple of other phones lines in the house that are verizon , and they are all clear.]
Plus, the computer phone line is a single line. it is only used for the computer. nutten else

Roadrunner is the cable modem service from Time Warner.. Cable modem service is just as reliable as your cable service , if ur cable service goes out a lot, so will ur cable modem service. I have cable modem service from our cable company and have satellite service.

Leonie when u move off dialup and go to cable modem, make sure u install a firewall on ur pc to prevent univited visitors.

If you have what is called a "dirty phone line" (cross-talk, noise on the line, picking up radio, signall, loose connection or intermetting bridging hook-up at the box, etc), it can interfere with not only your voice signal, but also your digital DSL signal. The quality may or may NOT be dectectable to the ear.

What you really need is for a phone company technician to come out and check things out, by running a quality check. They can do a lot from the office, but some things must be done from the local site, no matter what the lazy folks over the phone tell you.

telephone comapany dem.

Some dem have di same old computer weh dem buy long before window 95 come pon seen.

Now dis is 2005 and dem want di computer dem purchase from 19 O long fi run like brand new and blame de phone company dem.

Yuh kno SBC use to have whole heap ah problems years ago but dem clean up dem act, especially dem customer service. Mi caa believe sey ah di same company.

DSL also has a distance limitation which is the actual length of wire between your plugin to the nearest switching station. Its the biggest limitation for DSL since there can be a variety of quality wire and other phone equipment. The DSL you get may not be the best but two doors down its great. The greater the distance the loss in quality/speed increases. I've seen DSL trying to compete more and more in the marketplace and they sometimes give you DSL when you barely qualify (if at all)...some users just wont know the difference. *cough* 56k'ers *cough*

You can always check on the broadband providers in your area by checking http://www.broadbandreports.com/ (actual user submitted data) before you buy/change/upgrade your broadband services. I've had it all, from a 300 baud modem to cable/DSL to hosted servers on multi T3's.
