If you would like to see what is in your clipboard (without doing a CTRL-V), you can actually run XP's clipboard program.
1. Under the Start Menu select "Run"
2. In the open location box type: clipbrd
3. Click, OK
The little clipboard program will open and you can see what is lurking there, or leave it open to monitor the changes as you cut-and-paste your life away.
