Spoofing a reply address is an old technique; it's actually very easy, because the sender of an e-mail declares his own reply address to the server, and so anyone can send any e-mail message with any reply address s/he wants.

That's why blocking addys works only so well; real spam detection has to perform lexical analysis of the messages themselves.

That's why i love my companies anti-spam devices...they put all the junk email in one file and i decide if i want to open it...I usually just delete it immediately.

Like just about everything else in computerland, spam filtering has improved dramatically since it was introduced.

I have often wondered why people who want to sell something adopt a tactic that so obviously annoys so many potential customers. The only answer that occurs to me is that it must work often enough to make it worthwhile.

I signed up for Google mail thinking I could get a better address, and WOW talk about SPAM!
I have found however, if I forward the SPAM to Abuse@yahoo or Abuse@hotmail they get right on it.

Slows it down a tad..

When ever you have free email address you will definatley get Spammed tuh grasscyaat.
