Technology and Katrina

..the cell phone network crashed, ditto for landlines..no power for electronics (or computers)
So in emergencies and natural disasters, all this fancy and expensive equipment is useless and unreliable in crisis when you really need it (in fact, even in 'good' times, if the building is full of steel, you cant get good cellie service...

yep have to resort to low tech smoke signals.

rootswoman- excellent point.. after 9/11 mr kia and i have established a base point in state and out of state in case of disaster..
