Okay, can you please explain why I cannot get onto anything msn, hotmail or msn instant messenger?

Everytime I go to check my hotmail, it says page cannot be displayed. Same with msn homepage. And then the instant messenger it tells me we are unable to sign you in at this time. OR it says I am not connected to the internet. Although my yahoo is working just fine, and I am sitting here typing this to you sooooooooooo....

Try unplugging the modem and router (if you have one) for about 10 minutes then plug them back in.

Router first then modem. Reverse the process when you plug back in.

Also certain sites will not allow you in, unless you give them permission to run certain pop-up, or java script in the background. In other words, you have to selectively allow your pop-up blocker to ONLY, let that page do its thing.

It is quite possible that the MSN servers are having issues, or being serviced.

How long as this been going on?


Also, Do you have a firewall?


Which browser are you using?

Okay my provider suggested the first thing you did...from their end it shows i am ok. But for the first time since I sent you this now I haven't been able to get on at all.

I also haven't changed any of my pop up stuff. I called compry and she has no problem with her msn. I tried from my friends computer and it still wouldn't work. this started on monday night. No firewall here that I know of...

As for browser...I either log in through the rogers browser or internet explorer.

Go over to Compry and see if YOU can log-in to your account from her PC. If you can, check your cookie settings in the browser, as well as, and the windows-XP (SP2) firewall settings on your PC.

As a matter of fact, shut down the Windows firewall on your PC temporarily, and see if you can get in to MSN.

Also, I want you to go back and examine your log-in information carefully, especially if you have it set to log on to MSN automatically. There may be a slight error in the ID or password. Something could have revised your login info.
You may want to try and re-type everything in manually to see if that works.

thanks Jkid..went across the street and am able to access everything. Going back home now to take my computer to Staples to get fixed.

Okay...motherboard had burned out. Got a new computer rebuilt and my other one is being fixed and will replace the one my children are currently using.

I am back and better than before...wooo hooo....

You know... every time I download and start to use yahoo... I have mega problems with my browser and applications...

Once I remove yahoo - problem solved...

No the only IM was yahoo, but if I tried getting onto any other sites/webpages it kept telling me the page cannot be displayed.

I would sign in here post one thing then it would redirect me to page cannot be displayed. It started slowly then started happening more and more frequently to the point I couldn't get on at all.

In the end the operating system was starting to spin out of control. They told me 6 (?) of these little thingys on the mother board were burned out. He did this test and it pulled up some blue screen with a bunch of failure messages.

SistahD...he told me not to load the Rogers browser stuff back on my computer as it slows it down immensley and creates other problems. So this new one won't have it, but the one for the children will have it as it comes with the parental controls.

You know Ivoree, the exact thing "exact" happened to me last week and it was a virus.

But seems it was hardware (those little thingys) in your case.

Hi Mulligan... I thought it was a virus initially, finally gave up and decided I would take my computer in to have it checked, downloaded everything everyone suggested, which was a lot I might add...

One thing I learned, everyone has their own views as to what anti spyware or ad-aware or virus protector to use, my head is still spinning. Even the computer shop said no no use only this...so they have 2 on my system now.

no problem Ivoree, glad I could give some suggestions, I still think there was some sort of browser hijack in there, I think your motherboard dying out just coincided with it.
