Saving Pictures to a floppy...

I am trying to clear out my picture files because apparently they are taking up too much space. So I bought a pack of floppies and decided to clean house. To my surprise only two or three pictures at the most can fit on a floppy. Turns out that the pictures are huge. Can anyone tell me how to reformat them to make them smaller I have tried everything...even thumnails and that doesn't seem to make more fit onto a disc. I will admit I don't really know what I am doing wrong. I would like to at least fit an entire file on one floppy. I really have to clean up because I keep getting that annoying blurb that says that I am running out of disc space and now I am sure that it is the mega pictures that are doing it.

First off, make sure your files are .jpeg files, .bmp take up too much memory.

Which photo editor are you using?

Well, thanks Pepper for pitching in to help.

Well Jedi, using floppies would be a very looooong and slooow process. You are better off burning them to a CD/DVD, uploading them to a web storage site, or saving them to a flash card (via USB port). These methods would also save you the extra work of having to compress each file, unless you really want to do so. The CD route would probably be the most practical method.

If you still want to go the floppy route you can use Winzip, winrar or any of those free or trial software that you can easily find on the net.

Oh great! I have choices...So now I can either buy some more hardware or spend hours compressing files to save them on a floppy. Or dash weh di pickcha dem [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Here is a easier solution.

Take your memory card to a photo lab and have them save your pictures on CD. You can get it done for less than $10 and I think you can get 200+ photos on one CD.

Thank you so much Pepper...now that I have cleared out the cards. Well thanks all next time I guess. Meanwhile I think I will go with Kia's idea and plan for the future. I think I may just invest in a new computer for the fall with a CD burner.

Are you trying to save pictures from your trip report? (I haven't finished reading yet).

Since you have them online, you can upload them to CVS or any other local photo lab, and they will burn the cd for you. Or, if you used snapfish, shutterfly or one of those other free pic sites, they can burn the cd and mail it to you.
