I am looking..

for a decent MP3 player,I am after one that is capable of holding not only music,but also storing photos,and voice recording facility.

I`ve been told about a few on the market including the "zen creative" which is supposed to be very effective which I am currently eyeing up,..I dont necessarily want an apple Ipod,although I would chose one as a last resort,I want an MP3 player that`s got bags of Gb and capable of holding at least 3000 songs along with photos.
LOl...I know I`m not asking for much,but if anyone has any recomendations I would be extremely appreciative,...I have a tiny problem in that I always buy my gadgets only to see a much better one on the market a few days later..drives me up the bloody wall.

Example,....I upgraded my camcorder a few weeks ago after much research into the best camcorders out there for amateurs,..only to turn up at a family party two days later to see my brother-inlaw sporting *his* latest camcorder complete with built in light,...mine didnt have a light,so consequently I ended up with a really horrid grainy night film of the party....that`s been my luck with boys toys for quite a while now,I need to get my MP3 player right,but I know buying the most expensive isnt always the answer.

compressionwise, players with AAC and/or WMA compatible format are probably the most efficient (tighter compression). You can fit more in the same space with these two formats than you can with the MP3 format. MP3 only players are more lossy, and require a higer bit rate encoding value (about 160) to equal the same quality (about 96) for the other two audio formats. Try to find a player that compatible with one or both of the newer encodings. If it also supports MP3, that OK, since MP3 is still the universal format of choice right now, and has a lot more readily available material out there.

Also make sure to get a player, that will also record. Some out there also comes with radio receiver built in. For capacity and value, you are probably looking for one with a hard drive, instead of flash memory

I have a 60GB iPod Photo and I love it. The 60GB may be a bit of an overkill for you; they make a 20GB one as well. I have found it intuitive and reliable. I am no audiophile, but the sound quality is great. The iTunes software makes it easy to sync your photo and music library with the player, rip CDs, purchase songs, subscribe to podcasts and create playlists. Plus - there are tons of accessories available for the iPod (mics, FM transmitters, docking stations, remotes, etc). There really are advantages to 'going with the flow'.

Wow!!! 60GB,...that is a very powerful piece of equipment,who would have thought they could pack so much memory into something so small,you are right though,going with the flow seems to be the way to go,I`ve been looking at Ipods and they seem pretty impressive indeed,..thanks very much for your reply.

how many songs can it hold,I`m guessing about 20,000,...also how many photos,..I wont even hazard a guess on that one.

Right!!,my mind has been made up,I`m going big,I`ve decided to go for the apple ipod photo with a whopping 60Gb,my rationale is that I may as well get something that will cater for all my needs for a few years,with 15,000 songs and 25,000 photos that is all I will need for quite a few years.

And the upside is that there are so many accessories that are compatible with the ipod,it`s mind blowing,....the only downside is that the price here in the uk in comparison to the price in The Us is quite a lot,...they are £299 here,which is not a very modest amount,but the Ipod has a good reputation.
