There will be some downtime within the next week as I make some changes to improve the download time on the site. The best case scenario is we may be down for 2 days. I am trying to do it over this weekend if Hurricane Wilma obliges.

I may put up a temporary board during this time. This may be a little inconvenient but on the bright side we are trying to resolve the “slow bandwidth” issue that has plagued us recently.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

PS: Look out for information on the temp board address. This likely will be an IP address.

I was wondering way this start moving so slow and I using the fasting internet service on earth.

Just a bit of techie geek stuff:

Xavier is moving to another server so really there isnt a down time like most of you are thinking. What takes 2 days? Well when you move a site you need to make a change to something called DNS. What's that you say? Well think of it as a way to point jamaicans.com name to an IP address 127.0.0.1 (IP addresses is what the net really is, not domain names like jamaicans.com). Anyway back to the point. The 2 days is given because when you make a change to DNS it needs to propagate on the internet DNS servers, and some DNS servers only update every 2 days.

So if you get an error when trying to load jamaicans.com during the transition its probably because the DNS server your ISP uses hasnt updated the new address of the jamaicans.com server. So it tries to connect to the IP on file and sends ya to the old server address and spits out an error (since its no longer there).

Usually DNS updates are faster but worst case it could be 2 days for some users. Everytime I've done DNS updates to sites I host it usually updates within 30 minutes or so. Just thought I'd explain on it a bit so everybody understands what's going on.
