Warning Virous Alert

I was attack yesterday by virous that disable the drive for my modem.

Its the first time norton fail to protect my pc
I guest the caught me with my gard down a little.

Any have this problem lately or the attacker is
just after me.

I kill the virous by doing a system restore and go back to my last download at the early stage of when the virous might enter the system.

Then I run norton to kick his butt. I back running smoothly now.

Question Legal, do you run a firewall? Hardware router firewalls are generally considered the best but there are software firewalls too. Zonealarm makes a good free software firewall that you may want to consider if you don't already have a firewall installed (free for home users - restrictions apply so check www.zonelabs.com for more info).

Norton can be a pain. I finally switched over to AVG by grisoft.com and have been happy. At the very least consider running another virus scanner to double check on norton's scans. Again AVG offers a free version for home users but check their site for more info.

Usually virus infections are simply because a script detected your pc online and tries to infect it. Its pretty rare to be the target of a hacker unless you are a high profile target. Sounds more like you just need to lock that box down to prevent the automated infections.
