Reby & or J Kid - HELP

I use Netscape mail in the office. A while back I changed the page set up to landscape because my reps (God bless em) keep sending stuff that stretches across the page. Anyway, since then every single morning, I have to change the page back to portrait. Why is is keeping landscape as the default and how do I change it so that portrait will be the default?

Try resetting it in your OS, outside of netscape mail.

Start > Control Panel > Printers & Faxes > Right click on your priter and select Properties > Under the General Tab select Printer Preferences > Under Layout select Portrait > Hit Apply > Hit OK > Hit OK

Reby, it's already set to portrait. It's just my email messages that I have the problem with.

Ok go in to your mail client and get me the version and exact product you are using. Netscape has a number of different mail clients so let me be sure I'm looking for info on your client.

Usually the version/product name is under Help > About

Its pulling the setting from Netscape then. Try changing it in the browser. It should be under File > Page Setup in your netscape browser.

The only other thing I can think of is to restore settings to default in the options. I dont use 7.2 but I cant see any major known issues with it and printing.

Gonna be late for work, gotta run. I'll check in with ya later after I get a chance to do a bit more searching.

Already checked that Reby....thanks for trying to help. I use a laptop which I shut down every night. It reverts back to landscape each time I boot up. Once I change the setting EVERY morning it remains on portrait until the next morning. I can't figure out how to keep in on portrait permanently. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

I've been poking around as time permits and saw one reference to the wrong paper type being selected in the options. Check to see if its set to 8.5 x 11. If its already set to 8.5 x 11 try selecting 'restore defaults' in the paper tab(if its there).

There are not much doc's that I can find on 7.2 that relate to printing(or at all for that matter). At this point the only thing I can think of is an uninstall/reinstall of NS 7.2. The last possibility would be to uninstall your printer and reinstall.

I think its a bug in netscape, and not something you've done. Kinda freaky.

If anybody has a better suggestion by all means lets hear it.

Thanks for trying to help Reby. You've been wonderful. I used all my helpdesk knowledge and still cannot figure it out. I have one more trick that I'll try tomorrow morning. I will print preview a browser page and see the orientation. I am thinking that I may need to reset it on the browser page itself and not in Netscape mail. Just thinking here...that may not be the solution. We'll see in the morning.
