Reconnecting with an old friend on Facebook has turned into a costly venture for a Palm City woman, WPBF-Ch. 25 reports.
Bonnie Miller, 50, has reconnected with lots of old friends through Facebook, which her daughter taught her how to use. Miller said that she and Robert Burns went to high school together on Coney Island, so when she found out he installed flooring, she was hoping to get a deal, the news station reported.
She wrote him a $10,800 check for the materials.
"I didn't really question it because of the relationship we had as well," Miller told WPBF.
But soon, she said, Burns disappeared. And his business phone is disconnected, WPBF reports.
Miller still holds out hope she's getting her money back. And Burns is still a Facebook friend.
