the cable box

sigh.

ok my cable box is plugged into a power strip.. mi notice over the last 2 mths (or maybe is cause the company update dem system) dat every evening mi come home and turn on the strip, the cable box tek like all 1 hour to "initialzie" ..power on or whatever it name.

this evening been waiting on it for about 2 hours now



mi miss one show tideh

my internet is working fine so thats not the problem.

mi gwine carry the box guh fling pan dem on saturday.

hope you notify them when it did not come on....phone and notify them when it come on....then ask for a credit. I play that crap with them all the time and yes me get credit.

Once they said something like well if you read (some fine print)if it's not off for 24 hours or yada yada. So me say well I have no fine print but nehow I doan see me credit it will be hell and powdah house (get that from vegas in the SB)silence on their part then she said pardon me I repeat...she says I dont understand anyway the long and short of it all I got my credit.

it's only 2 hours but think of the amount of peeps they get 2 hours from. Blastid TIEF dem When I drop some jamaican sayings on them I get this from them then me give them this and repeat in jamaican patois it works like a charm. Stores, telephone company, cable company guess them just think I am a mad yt gyal

I am curious as to why yuh keep turning off/plugging out yuh cable/satellite box?

Do you realize that some of these boxes do maintenance and cleanup work during their low usage time, or late at night?

If you turn it off, then they have to do some of that work whenever the box comes back on. Depending on the tasks, it may tek ah likkle while.

All the new digital boxes, have to be connected to the cable and powered, during downtime. since a lot of the data, including commercials are transmitted and stored in the boxes,during these periods so so as to reduce the need to transmit them during critical usage periods. This reduce the demand cycle and spread it over long periods. thus allowing a more balanced use of the bandwidth.
So if the box has been unplugged it take some tome to down load much of this data,before they are available. . It is not advisable to unplug these boxes. since even the clock may not adjust to the right time after it is plugged in after. In many cases it take up to a full 24 hour cycle, before an unplugged box, is fully ready to function as contracted. why mi keep tun it awf ?? cause mi nat gie mi teefing light company nuh more money dan wah mi need.

my bill went down drastically since I turned off the box and mi nuh really have nuh intention of going back to leaving the box on during the day when mi not home.
