buying a new laptop

thinking about this pretty little Sony unit.

is there any reason i shouldn't just go to Staples and buy one of these rather than ordering over the internet?

what's your opinion on the model above?

dont know much about them but 2 ppl I know like the Sony brand.(but I should say I dont know what it means to them to &quot;like&quot; their laptop)

I just bought a Lenovo and I love it like crazy but they are a bit more pricey than most and mine I use for work. If it was just for personal use I may have chosen a less robust system.

yeah...i looked at lenovo...and they are too pricey for my tastes and needs.

i need word processing and spreadsheet capabilities, but only at a minimum at home. i have a hard and fast rule to NOT bring my work home.

i should add...i mostly use my computer for web browsing, photos, email and IM when at home.

smaller, more potable and given what you want to use it for, email , internet ,IM maybe watch a DVD on the plane..it is a good size.

the one up there is a CW series...but i've now found a NW series....that has a 15.5 screen, weighs 6 lbs. runs just under 800 bucks.

should i buy from the internet? or should i go for the instant satisfaction and drive to Staples?

Mi is ah internet baby. Best prices an all. Plus, dem local stores ah start pi_s mi off wid sem 14-day return, an 15% restocking fee policies!

Goh check it out locally and if di price suit yuh den buy it locally soh yuh can easily tek ie back within di 14 days if necessary.

What's the model number of the Duo Core processor? I see a lot of the lower priced units going out with celeron and 1.6ghz processors now. There is a noticeable difference in speed between a celeron and a regular processor. The speed is noticeable enough where only the uninformed buy celeron based pcs. Nowadays you need at least a 2ghz cpu and 2gb RAM.

As for buying locally, unless you want to spend 200 bucks more (at least in my experience) nothing wrong with that. Even when you include shipping, it is usually cheaper to mail order. I have to admit though, some of the surplus laptops from CompUsa (Compuseless) have some pretty good prices. But you have to dig a bit to find out the specs. They only tout the good stuff.
