One of the probs I was having was with my genre's.
When I loaded my files from one place to a nex tings dat I know were reggae ended up in dancehall or in other or some oddah eedyat scategory, same ting wid funk, tings would end up in soul, other or disco .

Anyhow dista program (which is free) allows me to fix all dat and add or tekweh what eva mi want inna de tag.

when I got into the laptop dj ting I moved nuff files and de eedyat progran found 72 genres. Aftah I fixed the original files I had it down to 30 and no waywardness of any a de file dem.

It doesn't do what I thought it would. I need a way to add something permanent to the audio files so that I can sort them according to whatever tag I give them. In Media Player I had been using multiple genres for each track and then sorting them that way. (i.e. Pop/80s/Dance/Fast/whatever other random tag I thought of.) But the genres don't stick. When I had to reinstall Windows, most of it was lost and I had to start all over again. </span>

wah yuh mean it nuh work?
What it does is change the tag permanently. If you want to fix genres you have to go over to genre and change it to what ever you want and it will stay that way no matta what program/player you use.

How are you doing it?

<span style="color: #3333FF">I tried to edit the tags to have multiple genres but nothing else seems to recognize more than one.

In Media Player I use the autoplaylist to make playlists according to certain tags. I usually use genre and in Media Player I had songs tagged with multiple genres. So one song would be Pop and Dance and 80s and whatever other genre I made up. I would have the playlist sort it according to the genre and rating and whatever else.

The problem is, the multiple genres don't stick to the file, there would only be one listed in the properties of the file. And when I had to reinstall Windows the Media Player settings were reset so the tracks only show one genre again.

When I edit the genre using this program and then look at the file properties or open it in Media Player, it still only shows one genre.

I guess what I need is something that will allow me to sort the music any way I want to that will stick with the audio files even if the audio player has to be reinstalled or the files get moved to another drive or something like that.</span>

you mean you want one song to be in multiple genres?
If so yuh cyaan duh dat unless yuh have multiple files of de song pan yuh machine.

<span style="color: #3333FF">Yup, exactly. I can tag a song with multiple genres in Media Player, and in some tag editor programs. But Windows properties will only list one of the genres.

In Media Player, I can add multiple genres and even sort them that way. The problem is, when I have had to reinstall Windows, all of the settings are in Media Player and reset and I lose the genres.

I was trying to think of a way that I could attach the settings to the audio file itself, which is on another drive and is not affected if I have to reinstall Windows. Another option was to try to have Media Player run from another drive but that doesn't seem feasible, either.</span>

try media monkey, but I don't think any player can see more than one genre for one song.
You need to tag the songs from the source on which ever drive they originate from, once they are tagged there, they will stay as you tagged them no matter where you move or reload your songs to.

as for the multiple genre thing that may have to be done in the player itself.
