Thats too much money to spend on a laptop! You are buying into the Advertisement! Listen here is the down and dirty. Every 18 months a new chip (CPU) hits the market. A laptop/PC performance is based on two major things. The motherboard and the OS (Windows, Linux, Unix and Apple OS -Apple is Unix)

1) What are you going to use the Laptop for?
If you're not doing a lot of graphics or storing Music you don't need a large Hard drive and a high end CPU.
A $500 -$700 LAptop can get the job done!

2) Macs are for Graphics and Music because the OS (Unix) is more stable than Windows. Apple cater to this type of user since its inception.

THEY WONT TELL YOU THIS! BUT DELL, HP and some Apple products are made in Taiwan by ACER ! LENOVO is a Chinese Company!

anyhew...part of my job requires that i use the computer to produce things with A TON of graphics, layout, etc. i had a regular PC lab at first. WHAT A DAMNED MESS The IT people set up dem office right deh inna di lab wid di amount of trouble them PC's gave mi. Eventually, work built me a MAC lab last year and whooaa momma i promised myself that when my home workhorse gave out...i'd save up my money and get a MAC. It arrived last night...tiddey mi tyad cah mi was up last night getting to know it better

my thing is this...PC's and MAC work out to about the same amount of money by the time you retrofit/personalize your PC with the software you want &amp; set up security programs. MACS...you take it out of the box and it's ready to go... so it's a matter of pay upfront or pay later.

All computer manufacturers source their components from the same pool of factories and suppliers. Apple now uses Intel chips so of course they'll get their chips from the same place as Dell, Acer, et. al. The fact that Acer and Apple have suppliers in common doen't mean much at the end of the day because I'm sure Acer and Apple do not have the same specifications, quality control, etc. The supplier adjusts its output accordingly.

In my experience, from best to worst:

1. Mac
2. Lenovo (distant second)
3. Dell/Acer (distant third)

Press the start button ..Hold on tight.....cause you will be blown away. That&quot;s how good Linux is. The apllications are free!!!

I have a corporate E6400 that's about a month or two old now. I like it--enough to look at getting one for myself. Only problem was when I priced it out, it was somewhere north of $4k with everything I wanted on it. One thing I like is the daylight readable screen. When I used to work at home, I could be outside and have no issues reading the screen. Speed is also good. It can handle the HQ videos with no issues. Also like the lighted keyboard option. I'm not a big fan of Dell, due the individual components they use, this one isn't bad.

Battery life is about 2.5 to 3 hours, but the battery kinda' new too.
