my laptop is acting up

I am having problem, cant get in getting across the screen computer affected, guess it is one of those site that will not go unless i buy it. I check the control panel and I dont see any unusual site, trying to clean the cache wasgoing good but stop cleaning, I hilite, right click and then delete.
I am computer illeterate please help me

I am assuming u dont have anti-virus software on your PC? Have u run it yet if u do?

'Affected' can mean many things to us. Does it say Antivirus 2009 or 2010? If not, what is the exact message?

It does seem like a virus/malware issue. Correct me if I'm wrong techies.

thanks i checked an IT and she said I have spyware and I am to go into Safe Mode and remove the file through the Control Panel

We could help you better if you told us the error.

Note that some spyware acts as if you're removing it through the control panel, but leaves hidden stuff behind. If you don't know how to look for it, it stays in the background and you would never know. Some also reload themselves after removal if you don't delete all the files.
