If you cipy it to a DVD you cab search the DVD from the DVDRom. The reason why the adresses are colliding is because you do not differentiate between the 2 drives. If you name the other hard drive and use the search terms that refers to it,you should not have that problem. This is what will happen when you search the DVD from the DVDROM.

I think the problem is this...

older laptop is XPpro, new laptop is XPhome and it nah seet.
I put the hd back in the old laptop and could see the files no prob.

From what I understand XP pro can go back, but XP home cyaan guh fahwood.

That is strange, and must ONLY affect Outlook Express in that manner. I don't use outlook-express, I use Outlook, and go back-and-forth between Windows XP HOME and PRO (which I have on more than one PC's), without any issues with my (PST) data file or address-book file. I originally came from win-98 with no problem at all, and have gone back and forth in XP for sometime now. I also trade and work on many different kind of files back and forth between HOME and PRO, on a daily basis without any compatible issues. Also, have not heard none of the folks at work who do the same, complain about compatibility issues. It may have more to do with the specific versions of outlook-express than with Win-XP itself? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Have you sorted this out yet Emperah_dahJah? I've had some stuff going on and havent had much time to respond. If I understand you are trying to export your contacts then import them on the new machine, correct?
