Razor Phone for use in JaJa

I just got a request to bring a Razor Phone for someone to use in Jamaica.

Do I just go to a phone store buy one and would they get a chip or SIM card in Jamaica to get it activated???

If you go to a store and buy one it will be locked. To use it in Jamaica it has to be unlocked. You can buy unlocked ones on Ebay but they are expensive.

Yep they are pretty expensive. If you go on ebay and search "cell phones" you might beable to get it cheaper. Most of them are unlocked and all you would have to do is put your SIM card from Jamaica in it once you get there. Way too much for a phone in my opinion.

I got the request too and I just [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] and pretend I never heard the request.

I see that you have decided to not take the phone but just thought I would add some info that I found out. I have a razor phone in Canada and just recently bought a phone in Jamaica, but with all the razor talk I thought I would see how much to unlock mine and use the SIM card I bought. Well for rogers to unlock the phone is $250.00 Canadian.

A bit too rich considering i bought the phone and SIM for 70.00.

Any way just thought I would throw in the info for anyone interested.

I love my razor. Even has better quality here then my old phone. Not sure if it is worth the dollars to use on trips to Jamaica but I can see why they are popular!!
