vanishing photos?

I was taking pictures. There were over 250 on the card at the time. I deleted two or three to make room for others. I protect my photos to prevent accidental deletions. However, after taking another shot I reviewed my pictures and to my horror discovered over 100 were not there. Has anyone one else had this happed? Is there any way to recover the pictures? Could they have slipped in a hidden file??

I have a Cannon Power Shot SX110 IS.

On your camera, were these specific pics grouped in a folder instead of in the general open area, and maybe you deleted the folder instead that was cursor accidentally jumpped to?

Do you have auto download selected on your PC photo software?

No, all the photos were in the general open area. I do have auto download and when I did this, only the photos presently in the general area loaded.

Just seemed strange that they were there one minute then gone the next. I did delete maybe 3 shots, but no more than that. My camera won't allow me to delete more than one at a time unless I'm in the format screen.

I was hoping that you or anyone else who has had a lot of experience with media cards could tell me if it is possible that the photos could still be there but "hidden"?

Try pulling the card from the camera and putting it into a card reader, instead of hooking the camer up via USB.
