I am using a computer at work.. Someone in the past used the internet explorer to acess pornsites... Every so often the internet explorer home page defaults to the porn site...

I have cleared history and cookiess but it still happens..

How do I clear this ???????

As Miss P implied, the site has hijacked your web browser's home page. It also, possibly loaded a trojan on the PC.

Try running Spybot Search and Destroy. I use both Spybot and Ad=Aware every few days and between the two they seem to catch everything. Aslo run a full virus scan, including all sub-folders.

Tried that and deleted the temporary internet files no joy!!!!

I'd have to guess that its either a bit of malware on your PC that will change your homepage, or somebody is still using that PC to visit flakey websites. Adaware or spybot should find any malware, Have you updated the definitions before you ran the scans? I'd probably also run a virus scan just in case.

Other than that you may have to get your IT dept invovled. Its possible a janitor or somesuch is using your PC during off hours to get their funk on...

I see your AltEgo has struck again!

Before you run the spysearch software again, in explorer, go to tools advance uncheck both:

Install on demand explorer
Install on demand other

Uncheck:
Enable offline items to be sync
Enable third party browser ext
Enable Inline AutoComplete* (not really necessary but it has to cache your moves and any potential cache can be exploited).

Then you run the other programs.

Also post the id of the site that it goes to most often (so I can see if there is anything good on it).... no I will see what kind of stealth bomb there are using because you might have to edit the registry to get rid of this problem of nudies taking over your real estate.

Had a problem like that once. Don't know how it got on there but...what I had to do was Google whatever the name of the malware, spyware or whatever-ware it was.

I went to google and simply typed in "how do I remove _______ from my computer."

They gave me another program to install (I guess that was built specifically to remove the ware). I installed it - it caught de ware and deleted it. I however, deleted the said program that google told me to dowload. Be careful tho! Cause u never know.

Also, u might wanna go to Control Panel and run Install/Uninstall Program. Anything looking weird to you - google it again and if it no soun too rightid - uninstall e.

Yes that is the way to remove stubborn mal-ware. There are sites set up to help. Most recommend hijaak-it to scan then you would submit your list of files and a volunteer would look it over then help you to ID the mal-ware.
