Hi JKid...(meh still wait pon yu feh visit) [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70456-eyebrows.gif[/img]

Anyhooo...My computer at home is acting up. sigh...I open my browser and am fine. Go to my favourites menu and can open whatever is listed in there.

Click on the address line on the little arrow to pull down my history, I get the hour glass then it says page not responding and ends my session with the internet. Do ctrl H and try accessing that way no luck either same message.

Type in an address in the address bar same situation. But if someone sends me a link through e-mail/instant message I can access the page.

And as of last night when I try to access my received files, same thing happens there, not responding. cho!

I've run every scan on my system to no avail. I have zone alarm and the AVG thingy on there. I've uninstalled zone alarm to see if that is the problem, nope.

I also have another computer on the same router thingy that works just fine. \o/

Suggestions please and thank you...

Anyway, which browser are you using? Do you have enough memory...not you, your PC?

OK, couple things.


1) You did not mention running Spybot or Ad-Aware.

2) When last you re-booted your PC? Do you leave it on everynight?


I would power down the PC, Un-plug the rouer first, then the cable/DSL modem. Leave them un-plugger for about 10 minutes.

Reverse the order (just like this): Plug back in the Modem, then the router after the modem stabelizes (finish initilizing). Now turn back on the PC.

I said I am still waiting pon yu feh come dis side again so I can bbq as I had promised last time.

When I go home I will try what you have suggested. Lots of times, I just leave it on. But on the Long Weekend I had re-booted and shut down for a couple of days.

On this computer I didn't have them load spyware or adaware. Those are on my daughters computer.

Only use the one...and only have the one.

Tried your suggestions...still doing the same thing. Here is the error signature it produces. Not sure if it will mean anything to you.

Let us try the most obvious and quickest potential fix first:

Clean out your browser temp files, history, cookies first, THEN re-install the IE browser.

Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files and Cookies buttons. Make sure to delete the off-line content also.

If that don't work we will try check disk / fix disk.

I've done all that...worked for a while, now it is acting up again.

Probably take it back to the computer store. Still under warranty for a few more months.

Yes, but it didn't need defragmenting. I don't use this comp. for downloading anything. Just strictly work (word files) or instant messaging or just plain surfing.

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling IE, but that may be problematic. Try installing another browser and see what happens. That solved the problem for me sometime ago. At the very least, the other browser should work.

Do you have the newest Internet Explorer?...that might also be the problem...I gave up on IE a month ago...all i was seeing was not responding...a few months before that my whole operating system broke down...i had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OP/SYS...I am currently using Mozilla firefox to browse the internet....give it a try!
