Compatible Ink refills, and good?

I'm looking for refill ink for a friends Epson photo printer. Actually, we haven't been able to find them in stock at stores and the price of them is ridiculous about 12.00 a piece and it takes 6 of them. What a thing...

So I'm online looking for them and mostly I see ink marked as "compatible". One touts itself as being the only compatible ink recommended by Epson and that others will plug up the printers and such. All I am getting out of this search is confused, but someone is counting on me to come through with some ink...

Are compatible ink cartriges any good, or should we just stick to the expensive Epson ink?

If I were you, I would just go to my local computer trade show where you can get the ink cheaper, and buy a large botttels of each color.

J-Kid, you know Thunder Bay? Is a lot bigger city than where I am near! In other words, trade shows at least 3 hours away...

Now I have found the Epson ink for 15 to 17 bucks a crack. It takes 6 if them. That's nuts. I have a really nice Epson printer and guess where it is? In the closet, the ink cost more than a next printer.

And here is what happened the time I bought the refill ink for my Epson...

The kit was less than 25.00, lotsa refills in it. Others I knew had good success, so I come home and fill my ink cartriges, and come to find out....

Epson has a way of dealing with those of us that want to try to save money. The ink has a computer chip that must tell the computer how full it is. When you refill the ink cartrige, the chip cannot tell you did it, so your printer won't print, it still thinks it's out of ink! So, to remedy the situation you have to go to Epson Website and pay to get a code to punch in your computer to tell your printer it has new ink!!!!! A few years ago it was 3.00 but it was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as that printer goes. Hey, it printed nice photos but that's crazy!!!
